ABOUT ME

I’m Kenya. Yes, my name is Kenya just like the country. I started my journey about 20 years ago when I decided to travel to a new country every year. My journey actually started with my grandmother. She turned to me one day to tell me that she wished she could turn back time. While she loved her family and the life she had lived, she wished she had done and seen more. She wanted to travel the world and be free to all the experience she never could have had growing up poor in the South. Between my grandmother and a really bad breakup in my early 30s, I did not want to look back on my life in the same way that my grandmother looked back at hers.

I had dropped out of college when I was 20. At the time, I had to pinch my pennies. But, I was still willing to take a lot of chances to have interesting experiences.

Since then, I have been able to keep that commitment to myself and I have traveled to over 45 countries and counting.  10 years later, I decided to create a bucket list. I will admit, I am quite the planner. So, my list is typed, broken down by theme, and has grown to be more than six pages long. Some people think I am crazy and there are some readers who are ready to move on to the next blogger. I get it!

I will never finish my bucket list because it is WAY too long. That is not what it is all about. I am just trying to have as many unique experiences in my life as possible. My grandmother once said she “wish she woulda.” Well, I want my story to be different.

On my blog, I will mostly focus on travel and the things that make travel experiences amazing like food and adventure, but I will sprinkle in my bucket list quests, such as sports, music, and entertainment as well.

About Me

Every year, I try to check off at least 5 things on my bucket list. With such a long list, I have found out that to achieve my goals, that I have to do a lot of things on my own. Most of my travel and bucket list experiences are solo experiences. While occasionally I have preferred to share my adventures with other people, I do enjoy traveling alone. My hope is that not only will I inspire people to get out in the world to enjoy life, but that no one will wait for others to do so. Thanks for going on this journey with me.
